Poetry

the surest way

to their heart

is right through

your own

and this will be

the longest journey

you take

even if

those two hearts

turn out to be

one in the same

for some,

you will always exist

as a former version

of yourself

and that’s how

life goes on

in the energy where

you no longer belong

living in survival mode

for so long

creates a false sense

of security and freedom

what kept us alive then

poisons our soul now

and when we cut the chains

everything begins to change

i eat because i’m hungry

becomes

i eat to nourish my body

i work because i need money

becomes

i work to cultivate my passions

i exercise to lose weight

becomes

i exercise to revere this temple

i pray because i hurt

becomes

i pray to honour the soul

we stop tiptoeing

around invisible landmines

and start creating

a universe

of endless possibilities

and after many years

in darkness

i learned to

inhale so deep

that places inside,

beyond reach,

felt the cool air drawn

from the only thing real -

this moment in time

then,

with nothing left to fix

everything was left

to feel

there are spaces within

that are filled

by our senses consumed

by the wonders of this world

and we catch our breath

as our heart skips a beat

not for what we find -

but for the reflection

of that same beauty

and infinite wonder within

how soon

we forget the sun

wrapped up

in the chorus

of a starry night

even after

we wished

for the day

to never end
